🌿 Nature Connect Session at Sidhu Kanhu Park, Ranchi 🌿
A “Nature Connect” session was organized at Sidhu Kanhu Park, Ranchi, under the National Mission on Strategic Knowledge for Climate Change (NMSKCC) programme on 16-02-2026.
The park, managed by Jharparks and named after the revered Santhal freedom fighters Sidhu Murmu and Kanhu Murmu, provided an ideal urban green setting for the programme.
Students from less advantaged communities actively participated in the session. Facilitators from SIDHA conducted engaging discussions on local biodiversity, native tree species such as Sal and Mahua, seasonal variations, and the impacts of climate change, including erratic rainfall and shifting weather patterns.
An experiential learning component was facilitated by Early Bird through the “Bird Survivor Game” and guided bird observation activities. Students used binoculars to observe common urban bird species and participated in structured learning exercises to better understand habitat challenges and ecological balance.
The session concluded with meaningful discussions on anthropogenic stressors such as deforestation, habitat degradation, pollution, and global warming, emphasizing the importance of environmental awareness and responsible stewardship among young participants.
The programme was supported by Rainbow India Foundation and partners under NMSKCC.
